Pastor Farewell THIS Sunday! 10:00 am Message from Cherie and Potluck Dinner Together!

From Pastor Cherie

THE SPIRIT FILLED LIFE:
Saved by Grace. Filled with the Spirit. Formed in Community. Sent for Mission

Galatians 4:8-20 Formed in You!
There are moments in life when we know something is changing, but we don’t yet know exactly what comes next.  This Sunday will be one of those moments for us.

As we gather for worship, we will continue our journey through Galatians and our Spirit-Filled Life series. But this Sunday will also be my final Sunday as your pastor. That brings with it many emotions—gratitude, sadness, excitement, questions, and perhaps even some uncertainty about what lies ahead.  And I think that is exactly why this week’s Scripture is so meaningful.  Paul writes to the churches in Galatia out of a deep love for them. He isn’t simply concerned about what they believe; he is concerned about who they are becoming. He says: “My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you…” Gal 4:19
  • Until Christ is formed in you.
That is the heart of my prayer for the White River Methodist Church in Meeker Colorado!  Over these five plus years, we have talked about what it means to be Saved by Grace. Filled with the Spirit. Formed in Community. Sent for Mission. Those aren’t simply words for a sermon series. They are an invitation to a way of life.  And perhaps this Sunday we will see those words a little differently?

A pastor can preach sermons. A pastor can lead ministries. A pastor can walk alongside people through some of life’s most important moments – and I have been blessed by all of this. But ultimately, the pastor is not the one who builds the Church. Jesus does.  And please hear and know that…

  • Jesus isn’t finished with you.
  • Jesus isn’t finished with this church.
God is not finished forming Christ in you and or me – or His Church.  This is a gift?  Perhaps this is one of the greatest gifts we can receive in a season of transition:  the reminder that the Church belongs to Jesus, not to any one pastor.  So come and let us gather!  Let us celebrate what God has done and what He will continue to do as we lean into trusting the Lord even deeper.  Trusting God’s Holy Spirit with the things that we cannot yet see.  God is still forming something in you and in me and in His Church.

It has been an honor, and a privilege to be the Pastor at the White River Methodist Church in Meeker Colorado – and my heart overflows with gratitude for each of you and for God’s Sovereignty over every detail of our lives.  All for His Glory and His Kingdom!  Come and let us worship!
